Cregmore Park Hotel and Golf Club. This is a stunning development of a 4 Star Hotel and championship Golf Course on 200 acres of beautiful Galway countryside. Construction of the Golf Course began on the 1st May 2005 and opened to play in May / June 2007. The course designer Dr. Arthur Spring, is confident the course will rival the standards set by courses like the K Club and Druid's Glen. Dr. Spring says his inspiration for Cregmore Park came from his experience playing in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters. This major development has been undertaken by Murty and Catherine McGrath and family on their land in Cregmore, Co. Galway. Cregmore Park is perfectly located in Co. Galway, only ten minutes from Galway city centre and 5 minutes drive from Galway Airport.

Lahinch Golf Club: One of the most challenging links golf courses in the west of Ireland

Lahinch's Old Course has benefited both from the natural characteristics of the terrain and from the genius of distinguished course architects. Since the initial laying out of the links, various improvements have been made over the years. Alexander Shaw was not long in realizing that the unique nature of this location deserved very special development. The obvious choice as architect was Old Tom Morris of St Andrews. He accepted the challenge, but other than laying out the tees and greens, he felt there was little he could do. He commented: 'I consider the links is as fine a natural course as it has ever been my good fortune to play over.' More praise was to follow. In 1927 Dr. Alister Mackenzie was invited to make a number of adjustments to the links. On completion he remarked, 'Lahinch will make the finest and most popular course that I, or I believe anyone else, ever constructed.' Not perhaps the most modest statement ever made, but coming from a man who would very shortly design Cypress Point on the Monterey Peninsula and later help to create the legendary Augusta, it can hardly be taken lightly.

In fact, Mackenzie was not too wide of the mark. Lahinch Golf Club has undoubtedly one of the world's great classic links. It has all the ingredients of greatness: a glorious setting, a rich history, superb natural terrain and, where man has 'intervened', it has been through the hand of an outstanding architect. It also has a pair of notorious blind holes, a ruined castle and goats that roam freely on the dunes. Welcome to Lahinch. Savour the experience.

Ballyconneely Connemara Championship Golf Links is an exhilarating golfing experience. This awesomely picturesque 72 par course with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean was designed by Eddie Hackett and measures over 7,000 yards. Wind and rainbows are the specialty of the house at this 27 hole course which was started in 1973.

Quotes

“The course is amongst the most beautiful - and testing - in Ireland. Achieving the par of 72 at Connemara is a considerable achievement even for the best of golfers.”
Golf Monthly, February 2004

“A true Championship Links Course...The elevated greens on the back nine are spectacular.”
Tom Watson

“If there were a course like this on the west coast of England it would surely host the British Open.”
Peter Alliss, golf writer and BBC commentator

Gort Golf Club, Designed by Ryder Cup star, Christy O' Connor Junior, and officially opened in August 1996, Gort Golf Club is an 18 Hole Championship Golf Course, set in 160 acres of picturesque parkland on the edge of the world famous Burren and within 200 yards of the historic monastic settlement of Kilmacduagh.

Christy Jnr., himself was particularly excited by the new course at Gort, where he regards, the four Par 3's as among the best on offer at any course in Ireland. His equally famous uncle, Christy Senior and his good friends Eamonn Darcy and Des Smyth were loud in their praise of both the course and the club house.

" Having designed many Golf Courses, in Ireland and abroad, this project took me to one of the most beautiful settings in Ireland, nestled by the famous Burren and overlooking Coole Park, the home place of Lady Gregory. I started to construct what I believe will be a very fine 18 Hole Golf Course, carved through the Burren stone and natural waterways.

I truly hope you will enjoy playing this challenging Golf Course as much as I enjoyed designing it. "

Lake, River and Sea fishing

St. Clerans Manor House is the ideal location for all fishing enthusiasts.

When it comes to fishing, Ireland’s West has it all, from the promising waters of a remote inland lake, to the thrill of deep sea fishing.

The great Western lakes of Galway and Mayo are recognised as the greatest wild brown trout fisheries in the world, while Lough Corrib in Galway is a mecca for game fishermen and is famous for its exciting Mayfly season.

The rivers of Ireland’s West offer everything from big salmon to wild browns and, in Roscommon and Galway East, some of the best coarse fish stocks in Ireland. Shore fishing from rock, pier or beach is second to none, and deep sea fishing around the Galway and Mayo coasts is nothing short of spectacular.
