| While staying in the Gresham Hotel,
Dublin in 1951, John Huston met some members of the
Galway Blazers, who were having a wild time. He liked
Ireland so much that he brought his family back in 1953.
On seeing St. Clerans, he fell in love with the place
instantly and decided to buy it from the Land Commission.
After riding with the Galway Blazers for over a year,
he was offered the position of Joint Master. He spent
the best ten years of his life as Joint Master of the
hunt. Huston once described St. Clerans as a wonderful
haven and went on to say, “When I came back from
a trip abroad and entered the atmosphere, it was a world
apart”. Huston died in 1987, depriving Hollywood
of one of its greatest legends. |
