| Merv named the Robinson suite at St.
Clerans after his mothers family, Robinson from county
Tipperary. The name, Robinson, means ‘son of Robin’.
Over half of the Robinson families in Ireland today
are located in Ulster. They arrived in Ireland during
the 17th century plantation of Ulster. They came from
England and Scotland.
One famous Robinson is Mary Robinson who became the
first lady to be installed as the seventh president
of Ireland from 1990 to 1997. When her term ended, Mary
became UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. |
